About

Matre Yoga lives where three worlds meet: the quiet of the yoga mat, the depth of Sanskrit tradition, and the very modern reality of becoming a mother.

The name honours the ancient Sanskrit mātṛ - the root meaning mother, origin, creator. It points to matrescence: the profound shift in body, identity and spirit a woman moves through as she steps into motherhood. (And yes - there's a mat at the centre of it where we exhale and slow down, which feels about right!)

By grounding the intensity of matrescence in the older, softer roots, Matre is a space where mothers are genuinely seen, safely held, and guided into rest.

Matre Yoga · Deep Rest · Honest Connection

My relationship with movement changed when I became a mother. I'd always been a high-cardio, fast-paced person who ran at thirty weeks and did spin classes right up until my daughter arrived. So it took me a while to accept that I needed to slow down during pregnancy, prepare my body for birth, and connect with my baby I was growing.

Once she was here, movement became my moment - but again, it was about connecting: with my body, with her, and with other mums who were in it too.

Matre Yoga came straight out of those needs. As a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher with advanced training in Yoga Nidra, I've built Matre to be the honest space I wish I'd had - an intimate home studio centred on thoughtful and body-aware movement, and somewhere quiet to simply land back into your changing self. I can't wait to share it with you.
